Allahabad University has always occupied an esteemed place among the universities of India for over a century now. Established on 23rd September 1887, it is the fourth oldest university of India after Calcutta, Bombay and Madras University.The credit for conceiving a large Central College at Allahabad, eventually to develop into a University, is due to Sir William Muir, then Lt. Governor of United Provinces. As a result of his initiative the foundation stone of the Muir Central College.......
The College was established on 21 July 1965. foundation stone was laid by Shri Mohanlal Sukhadia, the then Chief Minister, Rajasthan on 16 April 1966 and Dr V K R V Rao, the then Minister for Education, India inaugurated this new building on 9 August 1969. We are running in the 47th year of serving the society. During this journey we have achieved various milestones in different fields.
The College is included in 2(f) and Section 12(B) in the UGC act and affiliated to Jai.......
The University holds the distinction of being the first Women University in North India.The first Academic Session of the University commenced in August 2007 and since then the University has progressed by leaps and bounds. The University, already recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 became the quickest University to get recognition under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956.
